China Media

First, my apologies for not updating this sooner. As many will have noticed, China Media, along with many other Blogsome blogs, are now behind the Great Firewall. I have been astonished by the number of readers of this site, and I intend on moving it to a different server and expanding it a bit.

In the meantime, I’ve learned that Ben Lam has been selected to host Lingnan Gallery on Guangzhou Television’s English channel. A decision has also apparently been made on a co-host for flagship program Discover Guangzhou, however the contractual details are still being worked out. The apparently good-looking guy is actually an overseas Chinese born in Vancouver. When it’s finalized, you’ll read it here first.

China Media reported earlier that a Guangzhou resident named Anthony had been given the job as host of the show Lingnan Gallery.  Unfortunately, following his screen test last week, he may have found himself out of the running.

The only foreigner working at the English Channel is Lena Gidwani, who is balancing Discover Guangzhou hosting duties with reports and her Hot Spots segment. Lena is well-known for her emceeing and hosting work, and is also a regular contributor to That’s PRD magazine.

The channel has a vacancy for one, and perhaps two, foreign hosts.  Job applications can be sent to yinjie@gztv.com. 

The Guangzhou English Channel continues to look for a full-time TV host after I left earlier this year.  The channel is China’s first regional all-English television channel, and has an opening for host of Discover Guangzhou and its Hot Spots segment.  The channel’s other popular show, Lingnan Gallery, has recently found a replacement by the name of Anthony, from the United Kingdom.  People interested in working in China’s Pearl River Delta should email yinjie@gztv.com.
